G20 YEA 2023: building a better world

“The primary concern of our generation of entrepreneurs is our responsibility to build a better world.” – Andrew D’Amours

The G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (G20 YEA) is an annual gathering held on the eve of the Leaders’ Summit. The 2023 edition brought together “hundreds of the best young entrepreneurs from around the world to establish and advance youth entrepreneurship as an engine for economic growth, innovation and social change,” according to Futurpreneur Canada. The organization is one of the founding members of the event and creates a global network of more than 500,000 young entrepreneurs.

Each member of the Quebec delegation agreed to answer a questionnaire provided by Offers about their experiences at the summit in India.

Here is the portrait series of the 10 young entrepreneurs from the Quebec delegation of the G20 YEA.

Answer questions:

What does this year’s theme “Hum” (Hindi for “we”) mean to you and how do you apply it in your company?

To me, “Hum” represents the fact that the whole world is more connected than ever. Our company’s true mission is to help Canadians explore the world, become more open-minded, broaden their horizons, and realize how much we all are people who want essentially the same things. This cannot be done by staying at home, there is no other way than to go out and discover the world.

What did you learn about Indian entrepreneurial know-how during your stay?

Speaking to many Indian delegates and listening to local speakers, I found it inspiring to see how imaginative they are. I think it illustrates something all entrepreneurs should know, which is never expect perfection and just go for it. The conditions and infrastructure in India are definitely not perfect, but the entrepreneurial community is overcoming obstacles by taking action.

In your opinion, what will be the key issues of your generation of entrepreneurs?

In my opinion, governments and the state simply fail to solve society’s problems. The biggest challenge facing our generation of entrepreneurs is our responsibility to build a better world. More than ever, this difficult task is the responsibility of the individual and makes the entrepreneurial project bigger than just oneself or his company.

What do you think you brought to the Futurpreneur 2023 cohort?

I always try to share my experiences, be it my involvement in the world of startups and entrepreneurship or my many interactions with different cultures in my travels. The key for me is to always add value to others and help them become better people. We can all make it thanks to our background and unique experience.

Which topic discussed during your participation in the G20 YEA 2023 caught your most attention and why?

Globalization and the disappearance of borders thanks to technology. Breaking down these barriers has never been easier and I firmly believe that there is nothing more important for any individual than to step out of their comfort zone and explore the cultural riches of each country. .
