Montreal Canadiens Director of Entertainment, France Margaret Bélanger, received the National Assembly Medal for all her work in both the sporting and legal fields.
A native of Matanaise, she has long been involved in law, most notably at Stikeman Elliott where she began her career in 1995. France Margaret Bélanger, specialized in acquisitions and mergers, joined the legal department of CH in 2013. A few years later, she expanded her mandate to include marketing and sales. Additionally, in 2020, she was named a member of the Executive Council of Inclusion by National Hockey League (NHL) Commissioner Gary Bettman, in addition to leading the entertainment sector.
Praise poured in from all quarters to highlight the work of France Margaret Bélanger. Whether it is the MNA for Matane-Matapédia, Pascal Bérubé, the Mayor of Matane Eddy Métivier, his brother André and his former colleague Me Marc-André Coulombe, everyone agrees that this honor is fully deserved.
“Thank you for maintaining this bond with your homeland and I hope this recognition from the National Assembly will give you additional impetus for your future achievements. Matane is proud of you and grateful that you made us shine,” said Mayor Métivier.
As for Me Marc-André Coulombe, he spoke of a woman who spared no effort and who is still considered the flagship of the company for which she sacrificed several years of her life.
“It’s the highest honor an MP can bestow on someone. I’ve always liked to say that Matane was the town of ice hockey player Alain Côté. Now we can say that it is also that of France Margaret Bélanger. ‘ said Pascal Berube.
As the main interested person, she accepted the medal presented to her “in humility and with great pride”. For the latter, all the achievements attributed to her are the result of hard work, but also of working with exceptional people.
Few people have received the medal over the years, including Isabelle Boulay, Yves Sirois and doctors Roger Veilleux, Claude Dufour and Daniel Ouellet.
Finally, France Margaret Bélanger also gave Pascal Bérubé a wink by presenting him with a Montreal Canadiens jersey bearing the number 75, the year the elected Matanais was born.
