She also serves as the team's deputy governor alongside Geoff Molson. In 2020, she was selected by Commissioner Gary Bettman to serve on the NHL's Executive Inclusion Council.
According to a report by TVA sportswriter Renaud Lavoie, the president will also oversee a larger portion of the team's day-to-day activities while Molson will focus on his position as owner, president and CEO.
“It is an honor to become president of sports and entertainment for this legendary organization. “Working with our talented teams, we will continue to develop and execute renowned sports and entertainment events across our brands, creating unique and unforgettable experiences for the world's best fans,” she said in the press release.
“With her unifying leadership and expertise, France Margaret will continue to build successful partnerships and advance our one-team approach across the company,” Molson added.
Bélanger joined the organization in 2013 as senior vice president and general counsel.
In January 2017, she became Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, allowing her to lead commercial strategy for the hockey sector. In May 2020, she took over as head of the entertainment sector and continued to oversee legal, public affairs and community relations.
