Partenaire Dumont Inc., a non-profit organization awarded the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center has acquired the former Radio Canada building at 250 University Avenue.
According to Vitalité Health Network, the $8.6 million transaction will be used for the future development of the hospital center.
“Its strategic location will allow it to meet significant space and parking needs,” a spokesman said in an email. The use of the 55,000 square meter building has yet to be defined. According to its master plan, the Vitalité health network is beginning the planning phase for these areas.
The acquisition of this building will allow CHU Dumont to offer 115 additional parking spaces to patients and network staff.
Radio-Canada Acadie moved to this building at 250 University Avenue in 1969. Previously, the building housed the recreation center of the municipality of L’Assomption.
However, in 2015, the Crown Corporation station was moved to 165 Main Street.
The following year, Radio-Canada’s former premises were sold to Heritage Management for $2.2 million.
