British reporter Ted Kravitz, active on F1 TV and Sky Sports, said the Villeneuve family “would not have appreciated the presence of the Scuderia sponsors’ logos on the helmet” and “wish to be consulted”.

The European media then picked up the story and spread like wildfire across the Atlantic.

However, upon verification in the paddock, it is a false controversy.

Joann and Mélanie Villeneuve are the special guests of the Monaco driver this weekend in Montreal.

Normal helmet

During the last free practice session in the rain, the Ferrari driver simply used his normal helmet for reasons of comfort and functionality, it was explained outside the Ferrai hospitality tent. This important piece of equipment is state of the art and equipped with headphones, microphone and camera.

Angered by the controversy in Europe, Mélanie confirmed to the representatives from Journal that his clan never commented on the stable and Leclerc. The Villeneuves are very proud of this tribute.

Before Leclerc stormed into the pits for qualifying, he greeted the Villeneuves warmly and indulged in a photo shoot and a bit of chat at their side.
