Weather conditions in the area should change rapidly, according to the latest warnings from Environment Canada.
Earlier in the afternoon, Environment Canada issued two important updates affecting our entire region.
Sudden cooling warning
As you noticed, under the influence of the positive temperatures and the showers that fell in the morning, the ground is now softened. However, temperatures should drop quickly due to a violent cold front that will cross southern Quebec tonight. As a result, puddles freeze, wet snow, and additional precipitation as temperatures drop.
In addition, heavy snow showers could accompany the front and reduce visibility to zero.
wind warning
In the late afternoon, southwest winds will blow at up to 90 kilometers per hour.
The wind could detach objects from a surface and cause injury or damage. Strong winds could detach objects from a surface and break branches.
Note that according to Environment Canada regulations, a wind warning is issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds blowing.
Wind, cold and frost, it’s still best to stay at home to prepare for Christmas with the family.
