According to the Russian Defense Ministry, nine aerial drones and seven sea drones were used against its fleet in Sevastopol on Saturday and a minesweeper damaged.
The attack has been blamed on Ukraine and Britain, a claim denied by both countries.
However, some of the drones were equipped with “navigation modules made in Canada”, Russia announced on Sunday.
When asked to comment on these allegations, the Canadian government remained silent. Global Affairs Canada referred a request for information on the matter to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), who then stated that they “cannot comment on these allegations”.
Officially, Canadian military donations to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began include an unspecified number of L3 Wescam cameras used on drones for aerial reconnaissance and surveillance missions.
In addition to signing a maintenance contract for this equipment, Canada has announced four times that it will send drone cameras to Ukraine. The latest announcement comes from Oct. 12, when Ottawa pledged $15.3 million for drone cameras, among other things.
On the other hand, the official registers revealed by Ottawa do not mention sending other types of drone parts to Ukraine.
