The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to choose between a defenseman, Artyom Levshunov, and a forward, Ivan Demidov, at No. 2 in the 2024 draft.
We can guess that the Montreal Canadiens would prefer the Hawks to target the defender because it would increase their chances of acquiring a top forward of the caliber of Demidov, a Russian with incredible individual skills.
Information reported on Thursday by TVA sportswriter Anthony Martineau, who was sent to Buffalo for the prospect evaluation session (Combine), makes CH fans dream.
As Levshunov told our reporter, the Blackhawks followed the Belarusian guard closely during the season: “We talked to each other very often this year.”
Levshunov also had a first conversation with the Canadians in the last hours of the “Combine”.
If Demidov is no longer available at the fifth spot, CH could turn to Cayden Lindstrom, Tij Iginla or even Beckett Sennecke.
