Clothing brand H&M announced on Tuesday December 20 that it had withdrawn the collection bearing the singer Justin Bieber’s name. The Canadian artist posted an angry message urging his fans not to buy this “junk”.
The Swedish clothing giant preferred to repackage the goods. H&M on Tuesday announced it was withdrawing the sale of a collection signed by Justin Bieber after the Canadian star received an angry message claiming he had not given his consent to the “junk”.
“The H&M merch they did with my name on it is crap and I didn’t approve of it. Don’t buy it,” the 28-year-old singer posted in a Story on Instagram. This range was put up for sale “without my permission,” added the star, who announced earlier in June that he has Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
This tirade may be related to the fact that the artist himself sells clothes on his website at higher prices than H&M is asking. He also has a separate clothing line called Drew, which he launched in 2019, a nod to his middle name.
H&M removes clothing ‘out of respect’
When asked by AFP, the brand said it had withdrawn the entire range from sale “out of respect” for the artist. “As with all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M has followed the appropriate approval procedures,” a spokesman said in an email. “But out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber, we have removed the garments from our stores and online,” he added.
H&M had worked with Justin Bieber for several years on products associated with his name or his tours. The range currently on sale included sweaters, t-shirts, phone accessories and another cloth bag.
