The next few weeks promise to be full of emotions for Christine Sinclair, who announced her resignation last Thursday.
However, the Canadian soccer legend does not want to receive similar recognition as US player Megan Rapinoe, who also made this decision in August.

The latter was honored before her final meeting with the Stars and Stripes by receiving a special jersey while her family was on the field. She also gave a speech to her fans at the end of the game.
“I’ve seen what American teammates like Megan Rapinoe have gone through and yes, it’s my worst nightmare,” Sinclair said after the Canadians trained at the Nutrilait Center in Montreal for Saturday’s clash against Brazil at the Stade Saputo.
The one who has threaded the ball 190 times in 327 international matches will have the chance to end her career in the selection team in the best possible way. In fact, after the home-and-away series in Montreal and Halifax, Sinclair will play his final meeting with Canada against Australia in his hometown of Vancouver on Saturday and Tuesday.
Despite everything, fans are entitled to an extension as she admitted she doesn’t fully plan to step away from the pitch just yet. Afterwards, their return transformation always takes place with the ball in the immediate vicinity.
“I will stay connected to the game, I plan to play in Portland for another year,” said the Thorns striker. But whether it’s as a coach or behind the scenes, I’m not going away.”
A funny anecdote
The American team also wanted to recognize Sinclair for his great career, but quickly realized that wouldn’t be possible. For what? Simply because the 40-year-old athlete decided to block her X account (formerly Twitter) shortly before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
“Yes, I blocked her,” Sinclair admitted frankly. […] I think it was just before we played them and that was enough. I completely forgot about it and didn’t go any further [X]. I haven’t been there since the World Cup so I completely forgot about it.”
“I didn’t see what they wrote except when my teammates showed it to me. Of course they are big rivals, but I thank them for the kind words. […] “It’s just something ‘Sinc’ would do,” Sinclair concluded with a smile.
