That’s true of 39% of Canadian respondents to a poll by Angus Reid released on Tuesday.
The other priority issues for Canadians are the climate and energy transition (28%), clean energy trade (25%), Canada’s role in relations with the United States (24%) and the Safe Third Countries Agreement (22 % ).
No doubt because of Roxham Road, Quebec is where we find the most people who want Messrs. Biden and Messrs. Trudeau to deal with the Safe Third Countries Agreement and the reception of asylum seekers.
This is not least due to the fact that Prime Minister François Legault and the leader of the Bloc Québécois, Yves-François Blanchet, have been hitting the nail on the head for months.
Additionally, 47% of respondents said they were satisfied with President Biden’s visit, his first visit to the country since taking office in 2021. Conversely, 46% are indifferent and 7% do not want to see him in Canada.
Unlike former President Donald Trump, the current American President enjoys a good popularity rating among Canadians: in March 2023, Mr. Biden achieved a positive perception of 49%. In comparison, as of February 2020, 70% of Canadians had a negative perception of Donald Trump, compared to just 17% who agreed with him.
Angus Reid also addressed the perception of Justin Trudeau among Americans.
It turns out our neighbors to the south have a better opinion of Canada’s Prime Minister than Canadians do.
Of the 729 Americans who could recognize Justin Trudeau, 53% had a positive opinion of the prime minister and 29% had a negative opinion.
