An old list of the Montreal Canadiens’ best talents compiled by The Hockey News has resurfaced on social media, sparking reactions among Internet users.

Fans of the team note that they placed high hopes on players who ultimately failed to gain a foothold in the best league in the world.

In this top 10 from 2015, Swedish striker Jacob de la Rose, who played for the Hamilton Bulldogs at the time, is at the top.

At the age of 29, de la Rose now plays in Europe. In 242 NHL games, he only had 38 points.

Only three of the 10 prospects in this ranking were in the Bettman circuit last season. They are Noah Juulsen, Vancouver Canucks, Jarred Tinordi, Chicago Blackhawks and Michael McCarron, Nashville Predators.

On the second line, Nikita Scherbak was a flop. Goalie Zachary Fucale, third, had some good times in the American League, but he never played for the Canadiens and now finds himself in the KHL.

Martin Reway, seventh, barely played with the Laval Rocket before returning to Slovakia. Sven Andrighetto, eighth, has played 216 games in the NHL but has been playing in Switzerland for several years.

Charles Hudon, ninth, is still making a name for himself in the American League; his greatest achievement remains a 30-point season with the Canadiens.

Goalie Mike Condon, 10th, wasn’t bad, he can boast of having played in 129 games in the NHL. But he doesn’t play hockey anymore.

Nobody has a crystal ball, but let’s assume the Canadiens’ future looks brighter in 2024 with Ivan Demidov, David Reinbacher, Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux and Michael Hage.
