Lane Hutson will have to wait a little longer before he can celebrate his first victory in the Montreal Canadiens jersey.
On Sunday, the Habs’ hopes fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 at the Bell Centre. It was the second time in as many days that the Queen City club had won in the Quebec metropolis.
After stressing the day before that he was determined to win the first game with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, Hutson was on a mission throughout today’s game. The small defender still looked like a man among children. However, these numerous efforts were not rewarded with a victory.
The other top young players Logan Mailloux, David Reinbacher, Owen Beck and Emil Heineman also showed good performances in the game at times.
The last one on that list also found the back of the net. On the power play in the second period, Mailloux fired a powerful one-timer. The goalie saved, but Heineman jumped on the rebound and moved the strings. This goal reduced the deficit to 2-1.
