Sean Monahan's time with the Montreal Canadiens would be numbered as he is expected to be sent elsewhere by the team by March 8, trade deadline day.
At least that's what TSN network informant Darren Dreger says.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Monahan was one of the first forwards traded before the trade deadline,” Dreger said on air Thursday.
The latter also claimed that Monahan and the Montreal team's general manager Kent Hughes had reached an agreement on a possible exchange.
“We have to go back to the offseason when the Canadian signed Sean Monahan,” he continued. They had an agreement at the time that said he would be transferred to a competitive team or a team of his choice in due course, nothing has changed.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period supported Dreger's comments, suggesting that the Winnipeg Jets would be one of the teams interested in the 29-year-old center's services.
In the 2023-24 season, Monahan recorded 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 40 games. He signed a one-year deal with the Habs this summer and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
The sixth overall pick from the 2013 auction is in his second season with the Canadian. Due to injury, he only played 29 games for the team last year.
