The Montreal Canadiens have until 2 p.m. Sunday to grant players waivers before submitting their 23-player roster to the National Hockey League on Monday.
In particular, strikers Michael Pezzetta and Alex Barré-Boulet as well as defender Justin Barron are entitled to exemptions.

It would be surprising if CH took the risk of losing Barron to another team. We will remember that last year the team made every effort not to lose Cayden Primeau to waivers and started the season with three goalies; A situation that lasted until Jake Allen was traded at the trade deadline.
However, the fate of Pezzetta and Barré-Boulet is more unclear. Forwards Emil Heineman and Oliver Kapanen have done well this training camp, making personnel decisions difficult.
The Canadiens begin their season on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but like all other teams, they must submit their roster to the league by Monday at 5 p.m.
