Barron, 22, played 41 games for the Habs this season. He collected six goals and as many assists for 12 points and maintained a -4 differential.

It's a return to Laval for the Nova Scotia native, as he played 25 games for the Rocket between 2022 and 2023. Barron, a first-round pick (25th overall) of the Avalanche, was acquired from CH in March 2022 as part of the deal that sent Artturi Lehkonen to Colorado.

For his part, Stephens was signed by the Canadiens as a free agent in July 2022. He played 23 games this season and collected three points (two goals and one assist) with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge, and he also played 16 games with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge the Rocket. In the AHL, the 26-year-old striker scored three goals and nine assists for twelve points.

Other National League organizations have until Tuesday afternoon to claim Stephens for waivers.
