Still goalless, the Montreal Canadiens will play their third preseason game against the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Thursday night, and suddenly they’ll be faced with their former captain Max Pacioretty, who is trying to earn a place in the Queen City.
We don’t know who will get an audition on the CH side: the team had the day off and didn’t practice the day before. The players will arrive on the ice in the morning and we will then learn a little more about the intentions of head coach Martin St-Louis.
As Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports reports, most of the veterans were already on the ice before training in Brossard, a sign that they will not participate in the evening game and that CH will field a very young team.
The Maple Leafs shared their training:
While Lane Hutson’s position on the blue line seems virtually secure, young players David Reinbacher, Logan Mailloux, Adam Engstrom and William Trudeau, among others, are fighting for a spot.
At the top, Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen could cause headaches for management.
The Canadiens have so far defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-0 and then did the same against the New Jersey Devils 3-0.
