Canucks criticized from within

Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau has defended his players and his game system after his boss allowed himself to be very critical.

Monday, in an interview with one of Sportsnet’s radio stations, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford specifically acknowledged that his hockey players were “not responsible enough” and that they weren’t playing in “a strong system.”

Following these claims, Boudreau said he wanted to use them to motivate his squad.

“We play as hard as we can, we play as best we can and we risk everything every night,” he said at first.

“I try to keep distractions out of our dressing room as much as possible,” Boudreau continued. I’m not in the minds of the players, but all of that can also be positive. They can get angry and show everyone they are wrong.”

“It’s my 47th year in hockey and I’ve seen a lot of stuff. I think everyone wants to prove others wrong when they say things. I’m quite a competitive guy at heart and here’s my message: Prove these aren’t genuine claims.”

Following these declarations, the Canucks signed a 6-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators. It was the fourth win in six games for the club, which meets the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

Remember that the Vancouver team started the 2022-2023 season with a record of 0-5-2. She is now 4-6-3 and is sixth in the Pacific Division.
