Canadian Prime Minister welcomes contributions from Vietnamese community

Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau sent a letter expressing his wishes for the Lunar New Year (Têt du Chat 2023) to the Vietnamese community in Canada and around the world, not forgetting the continued contributions of the local people Vietnamese Canadians for the country to pay tribute to maple leaf.

In his letter, Justin Trudeau said the lunar new year is a time to reflect on what has happened and the accomplishments of 2022 and hope for new beginnings. It would also be an opportunity to better understand the rich culture, customs and traditions of the Vietnamese community.

The friendship and deep ties between the two peoples are further strengthened. in 2024, Vietnam and Canada will celebrate their 50th anniversarye anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

In addition, Vietnam remains Canada’s largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

According to Canadian statistics, bilateral trade between Canada and Vietnam reached CA$10.5 billion (US$7.85 billion) in 2021, up from CA$8.9 billion in 2020.

The Canadian government has identified priority areas for cooperation with Vietnam, such as agriculture, food processing, education, information and communication technologies, etc.

Tet, or Lunar New Year, is the largest annual festival of the Vietnamese people and this year takes place from January 21st to 25th (from the last day of the last lunar month to the fourth day of the first lunar month). .
