During Operation Neon, a United Nations (UN)-led sanctions mission against North Korea, there were several interceptions that took place “on a regular basis,” the ministry told Global News.
“What we can confirm is that during this latest iteration of Operation Neon, Canadian forces were intercepted by the People's Liberation Army Air Force,” a spokesperson said in an email sent to the media.
These interceptions are always carried out in a “safe and professional” manner, the ministry said.
The Canadian Armed Forces were deployed last September with the HMCS Vancouver and a CP-140 Aurora aircraft.
