Accompanied by the Inspector General of Finance, Jules Alingete, National Minister of Economy, Vital Kamerhe represented the Democratic Republic of Congo at the “Canada – Africa: Accelerating Africa 2023” Economic Forum, which opened on Tuesday, October 10, in the Canadian city of Toronto.
In his speech during the opening session, the Congolese Deputy Prime Minister focused on the opportunities offered by the Democratic Republic of Congo, which aims to be “a focal point for the sustainable development of the whole of Africa”. To this end, he reiterated that the country needs external capital.
“The Africa that President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi wants is one that is aware that there is much to give to save humanity. But for this it is necessary, above all, that Africa loves Africa, that Africa exchanges with Africa, that Africa realizes the ZLECAF project, with all that this entails as a prerequisite,” he said.
Vital Kamerhe continued his contribution, highlighting the fact that various United Nations reports on trade and development indicate that Africa is “the most profitable region in the world and records the highest returns on direct investment for foreigners,” with prospects for economic growth , which is “among the most promising in the world.”

Vital Kamerhe praised the countless riches in the soil and subsoil of the Congolese territory and reiterated that the French-Algerian writer Frantz Fanon was not wrong when he said: “Africa had the shape of a revolver, the trigger of which can be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo is.”
“This trigger is not the killing, but the development of Africa. I am convinced that the day the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is gradually getting back on its feet, will function, will sweep the whole of Africa with it. Therefore, it is a credible and reliable partner to work together with other continents to address the major challenges that threaten our planet, namely climate change, the global food deficit and the freshwater deficit,” added the Minister of Economy.
This forum, organized by the Canada-Africa Chamber of Commerce, ends on Thursday, October 12, including the major session on the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Vital Kamerhe and Jules Alingete will address Canadian businessmen and officials to discuss opportunities and projects awaiting investment on Congolese soil.
As part of this activity, African and Canadian officials will discuss inclusive projects aimed at Africa’s economic development, drawing on the track record and lessons learned based on the billions Canada has already invested in the markets. African.
