Canada’s Brooke Henderson qualified for the finals of the United States Open despite a second-round 75 (+3) on Friday in Pebble Beach, California. However, she is far from the new leader Bailey Tardy.
In third place at the end of the first round, the American posted her best performance of the day, four shots off par of 72. She made four birdies and an eagle on the front nine. She also made two bogeys.
With a total score of 137 (-7), she is two strokes ahead of her closest rivals, American Allisen Corpuz and South Korean Kim Hyo-joo.
For his part, Henderson is nine strokes behind Tardy with a score of 146 (+2). The 25-year-old Ontario native had a lackluster round punctuated by three bogeys. In the first race she finished 13th with 71 points.
Ontario’s Monet Chun also qualified for the weekend. She finished the second round with a card of 73 (+1), which allowed her to climb several steps up the rankings. She is 10 strokes behind the leader.
British-Canadian Lauren Kim (+7) and Quebecer Céleste Dao (+14) could not escape the ax.
