Earlier this week we reported on information from the journalist and insider Elliot Friedman from Sportsnet that the new GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Don Waddellcould possibly try to convince Bob Hartley to come out of retirement after the Quebecer’s dismissal and become the team’s new head coach Pascal Vincent.
As we know, Hartley had already publicly stated that he had retired and had no intention of returning behind the bench of a professional hockey team.
On the other hand, the connection between Waddell and him, who hired him as head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2003 when he was their GM, could have ensured that he succeeded in convincing him and rekindling the sacred fire.
However, this rumor was short-lived, as during his daily column on the airwaves of BPM Sportsthe main character immediately addressed the rumors.
He explained that at 63 years old, he is already retired and that he feels blessed to be in good health and to be able to spend time with his family and loved ones. He made it clear that he has no intention of making a comeback and advised listeners not to waste their time on rumors that may claim otherwise.
It has the advantage of being clear.
Hartley, however, opened the door to a return to the NHL, albeit in a different form, stating that he would be open to a role as a special advisor if a team he particularly likes called him to offer him a position.
Was he secretly referring to the Montreal Canadiens?
Although he is retired, all indications are that the head coach, who has won everywhere in his career, has no intention of stopping it all.
Now we want to see if an organization takes the opportunity and brings its expertise into its training.
