Canadian tennis players Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov reached the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles stage of the tournament in Indian Wells on Sunday without playing.
The couple benefited from the package from the duo of Britain’s Cameron Norrie and Austria’s Lucas Miedler.
“FAA” and “Shapo” will have to wait until Monday to find out who their next rivals will be. They meet the winners of the duel between Indian Rohan Bopanna and Briton Matthew Ebden and the team of Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
Auger-Aliassime is still part of the individual competition. On Monday he meets Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo. For his part, Shapovalov lowered the flag in his first game. His faller was the Frenchman Ugo Humbert.
Earlier in the day, Canada’s Gabriella Dabrowski and her teammate Brazil’s Luisa Stefani defeated the duo of America’s Asia Muhammad and Kazakh’s Anna Danilina in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 in a round of 16.
In the next round, the Maple Leaf representative and her partner have arranged to meet Alexa Guarachi from Chile and Erin Routliffe from New Zealand.
