At least 12,000 jobs will be offered at the largest job and training fair in Quebec, which will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal until Thursday.

This is a record number that has been growing since 2018 amid labor shortages, according to organizer l’Événement Carrières.

A significant proportion of the vacancies are in the health sector. The CISSS des Laurentides, Laval and Lanaudière alone and the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal provide 1,800 jobs.

Other sectors of Quebec’s public service will also try to persuade job seekers during the event. Various ministries want to fill vacancies with retirees. The retail trade cannot be surpassed with around 30 employers.

A total of 275 exhibitors present themselves during the job and training fair. They were responding to a poll in which more than 84% believe Quebec’s next government should welcome more new immigrants to address labor shortages.
