Are Pascal Siakam’s days numbered in Toronto?

The Toronto Raptors and their star player Pascal Siakam have not yet entered into negotiations for a contract extension, his contract expires at the end of next season.

According to The Athletic, some NBA teams would like to take on the 29-year-old athlete, even though he hasn’t requested a trade. Also, the Atlanta Hawks would be one of the teams that showed the most interest in the Raptors player.

The Georgia organization reportedly offered De’Andre Hunter and AJ Griffin along with draft picks. However, the Canadian club would have rejected this proposal on the grounds that they expect more substantial compensation from the Atlanta team.

However, some teams would be reluctant to add the powerful winger to their ranks. Siakam doesn’t want to commit long-term to a team that takes him over and wants to stay in Toronto.

In 2021, the Cameroonian was on a four-season, $37.9 million-per-year deal.

The seven-year NBA veteran averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game last season. He also competed in the NBA All-Star Game for the second time in his career in 2022-2023.
