Arber Xhekaj: “Go back to Costco”

Arber Xhekaj’s professional history has been on everyone’s lips ever since his former position at Costco was revealed. Some used it to disrupt the Montreal Canadiens defenseman… and regretted it.

The 21-year-old worked at Stoney Creek’s suburban Hamilton office during the pandemic. He combined his work with hockey and played in the Ontario Junior League from 2018 to 2022.

Precisely because of his love for the sport, Costco thanked him, who was becoming less and less available because of his involvement in ice hockey. On former Canada strongman Chris Nilan’s popular Raw Knuckles podcast, Xhekaj mentioned that some National League players teased him about it.

“A few people said, ‘Go back to Costco.’ [Zack] Kassian told me once. It was pretty fun,” said the man who doesn’t shy away from anyone when throwing gloves.

“He probably wanted you to be at Costco that night,” Nilan quickly continued.

The Arizona Coyotes player found a good client when he fought Xhekaj for the first time on October 20th. Responding to the provocations of one of the circuit’s top pugilists, the one nicknamed “Wi-Fi” tricked Kassian into paying by serving him a solid correction.
