Another victorious comeback for CH

For the second straight game, the Montreal Canadiens erased a two-goal deficit to beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday at the Bell Centre.

Nick Suzuki scored the winning goal in the shootout.

As with Thursday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, it was the numerical advantage that sparked the riot. After an exchange of blows between Mike Matheson and Nick Suzuki, he handed the puck in front of Laurent Brossoit’s cage to Sean Monahan. Number 91 made a backhand feint before firing the puck into an almost empty net.

As he returned from the dressing room, Joel Armia, playing his first game for the big club this season, scored his first goal of the season, leveling the score at 3-3.

Kaiden Guhle also made a successful return to the game and collected two assists. However, the Habs (5-2-1) were without the services of defenseman Mike Matheson in the third period, who took a few skates just before the start of the final period before retreating to the locker room.

For the Jets, most of the offense came from a single line as Adam Lowry flashed the red light twice. Nino Niederreiter was the Manitobans’ other scorer.

Jake Allen still did very well for Bleu-Blanc-Rouge and made several important saves, especially in the first third. He stopped 42 of the 45 shots he faced.
