An interview with comedian Gerry Dee

Several renowned Canadian artists have new albums ready to be released this month. Toronto dancehall star Lexxicon releases new album. Pink Brotherhood August 16. He is considered a pioneer as he was the first openly gay musician to release a reggae/dancehall album, a bold stance considering that artists in the dancehall genre are often accused of homophobia. Lexxicon’s sound is eclectic and also draws inspiration from reggaeton and hip hop.

Blues veteran Colin James is also preparing a new album, including his 21st studio album. Chasing the sun, includes performances by American roots/blues stars Lucinda Williams and Charlie Musselwhite.

Camille Poliquin, also known as KROY, nicknamed the “Queen of Montreal Electropop”, has released a new album: militia on August 16. His other project, Milk and bones was praised by critics. A press release from the record company states: “Her new work contains dark pop melodies inspired by love, sadness and depression.” You can find an overview here.
