An injury for Cayden Primeau; the rocket bows

The Laval Rocket fired more than twice as many shots at Antoine Bibeau’s net as the Belleville Senators at Kevin Poulin’s net, but it was still the crowd favorites who won 4-1 at the CAA Arena on Saturday.

The guests put the opposing masked man to the test 50 times, who only gave up in the first third through a shot by Lucas Condotta. He was particularly impressive in the second third, where he blocked all 20 shots in his direction. He also closed the door on Rocket players during each of the five power plays they received.

At the other end of the rink, Poulin was betrayed by the special teams. He was beaten twice rather than once by Angus Crookshank as the Senators played to man advantage.

Cole Reinhardt, whose Rocket had the man advantage in the last frame, was the other player to beat Poulin, who resigned three times after 20 strokes. Scott Sabourin completed the goal in an empty net.

The Rocket thus failed in yet another attempt to sign a second straight win, having failed to do so since the start of the season.

He will now continue that five-game journey with a stop in Utica for his encounter with the Comets on Wednesday.

An unfortunate injury for Cayden Primeau

Young goaltender Cayden Primeau was forced out of the Laval Rocket’s game against the Belleville Senators on Saturday, although he saw no action.

Primeau sat on his bench while serving as an assistant to Quebecer Kevin Poulin and was hit in the face with a stick. The Michigan native was forced to retire to the dressing room and was never seen again.

Primeau has had a 4-6-2 record, 0.893 save percentage and 3.53 goals against average since the start of the season with Rocket.

The Montreal Canadiens’ former seven-round pick is going through a pretty hollow period after leading the Rocket to the Eastern Conference Finals last spring.

The Rocket visits Belleville to win their second straight game and seventh game this season by 20 chances.
