The Montreal Alouettes have a record of 6-5 and are currently in second place in the Eastern Section of the Canadian Football League. With a clash on Saturday against the strong Toronto Argonauts, the “Sparrows” will try to consolidate their position in the table with a view to the upcoming playoffs.
Even though they have lost their last two games, the Alouettes are confident heading into the final third of the regular schedule.
“If you look from the beginning of the season, what we experienced in the offseason, we (still) had a 6-3 record at halftime,” the team’s general manager, Danny Maciocia, emphasized during the season’s first-ever broadcast JiC Football Edition on TVA Sports. Yes, we lost the last two games. We had some interesting performances, whether it was Austin Mack, (Tyler) Snead, whether it was our secondary with all the new defensive backs.
“I think the results are quite positive. We are definitely talking about a very interesting second half of the season that awaits us. We want to play our best football in the second half of the season. We definitely want to reach the playoffs and play a home game. We have goals that we want to achieve.”
Preparing for the game against the Argos was probably quite painful for the players due to the heat wave that hit Quebec.
“A pretty difficult week in the heat, but I think we handled it well,” Maciocia continued. Of the three days of training, there was one day that was more difficult. For the other two, perhaps it was mental exhaustion. I think the team will be physically and mentally ready to compete. There will be changes in training. But I am convinced that the team that is in Toronto today will come tomorrow afternoon and give it their all.
