After a meeting last May with the various institutional partners, it was now the turn of the companies and professionals involved in the work in progress on Phase 1 – From Boucher to chemin du Golf – and were invited by the City of Saint-Charles-Borromée welcomed at an information event “Axé commerces” held on June 5th at the André-Hénault town hall.
Almost 40 companies and establishments took this opportunity to learn about the progress of the works, find out about the final development plan and meet the liaison officer Sonia Hénault, the contact person specially appointed by the city to take care of the business and professional Page. Even before the work began, Ms Hénault’s mission began with meeting with the local companies to anticipate problematic situations, propose solutions to mitigate the impact of the works and, with the support of the municipal services, actively respond to the request of the various parties concerned.

To provide the best possible support to traders and professionals on Rue Visitation during this construction period, the city has endeavored to stimulate traffic during the construction period by implementing a series of damage control measures totaling US$80,000. The city has also invested $60,000 to launch a major communications project.
“The city of Saint-Charles-Borromée makes a point of being available to all stakeholders during construction by becoming the single point of contact for residents, institutional partners, traders and professionals. For this reason we have invested time and money to organize information events for the different target groups. The city wants to make life easier for customers and maintain local shopping. In addition to replacing all the outdated infrastructure, it is a great opportunity to see in this work a chance to revitalize the entrance and heart of the city and increase its economic activity there,” emphasizes Mayor Robert Bibeau.
During the information meeting, Saint-Charles-Borromée presented the outline of the local shopping campaign that will be launched shortly. The aim of this offensive is to support traffic at retailers in the work area. Citizens have to find out about this initiative in the form of a “shopping card”, which is part of a large-scale operation to support companies, in their mailboxes at the end of June.
