Thanks to an all-new partnership with AppleTV+, there’s going to be even more fun on board Air Canada.
Starting today, August 1, 2023, with the addition of exclusive original programming from Apple TV+ to Air Canada’s award-winning inflight entertainment system, passengers can enjoy a wide selection of original programming, including “Ted Lasso,” “Bad Sisters,” “Severance,” “Foundation” and many others.
“At Air Canada, we know that inflight entertainment is an important part of our customers’ journey, especially on long-haul flights. We look forward to welcoming customers on board so they can catch up on their favourite Apple TV+ shows or discover new hits during their flight,” said John Moody, General Manager of Product Design at Air Canada.
“This new partnership with Apple will enable us to increase our onboard entertainment content by more than 95% compared to last year. We look forward to introducing even more entertainment by the end of 2023,” added Mr. Moody.
Earlier this year, Air Canada was named “Best Airline for In-Flight Entertainment” by Global Traveler for the fifth year in a row and won the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Passengers’ Choice Award for Best Entertainment in North America. With over 420 movies, over 1,000 episodes of TV series, over 130 music albums, podcasts and more, passengers can enjoy programming from the start of the flight to the end. All content on board aircraft equipped with Air Canada’s in-flight entertainment system is free to all customers.
Air Canada’s partnership with Apple follows the airline’s recent collaboration with Mattel, which offers even more entertainment for families with some of children’s most popular short films.
In addition, in May 2023, Air Canada and Bell began offering free messaging to all Aeroplan members worldwide on board all Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft in the Air Canada fleet, including Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express flights. Guests can send and receive text messages over onboard Wi-Fi using popular messaging apps, including Apple’s iMessage, Meta’s WhatsApp and Messenger, Rakuten’s Viber and Google Messages.
Previously, in November 2022, Air Canada became the only Canadian airline to offer live Canadian television with English and French channels, giving customers the opportunity to support their favourite sports teams by watching global sporting events in both real-time and live news on board equipped flights.
