Air Canada offers Apple TV content on its flights

Air Canada has added Apple TV+ to its inflight entertainment system, doubling the amount of content available since last year.

Passengers can now watch original series from Apple TV such as The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Bad Sisters and Severance. The provider offers more than 2,500 hours of movies, TV shows, podcasts and music on its free IFE system.

This partnership with Apple follows US airline Mattel’s recent collaboration to bring dozens of additional hours of children’s content to the IFE system.

Last November, the airline also became the only Canadian airline to offer live Canadian television with English and French channels, allowing customers to follow real-time global sporting events and news.

John Moody, Air Canada’s general manager of product design, said, “At Air Canada, we recognize that inflight entertainment is an important part of our customers’ journey, especially on long-haul flights. We’re continually exploring ways to expand our entertainment offerings and introduce exclusive, up-to-the-minute content that our customers will love. We look forward to welcoming customers on board so they can catch their favorite Apple TV+ shows or discover new hits during the flight.
This new partnership with Apple puts us on track to increase our inflight entertainment content by more than 95% compared to last year. We look forward to introducing even more entertainment by the end of 2023.”

Air Canada is the second airline after American Airlines to offer Apple TV+ on its flights. She’s also offering new subscribers two free months to keep watching Apple Originals after they land.

Earlier this year, the Canadian airline upgraded some of its services, offering free messaging to all Aeroplan members on Wi-Fi equipped aircraft in its fleet.
