Agreement in principle between Quebec and 600 paramedics

(Quebec) The government of Quebec and paramedics reached an agreement in principle on Friday.

It affects around 600 members of the Brotherhood of Prehospital Workers of Quebec, a local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) affiliated with the FTQ.

This was announced by the Minister responsible for government administration and President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, and Health Minister Christian Dubé in a press release on Friday evening. It is noted that the agreement will remain confidential until ratified by members.

“As we indicated in the Health Plan, we will also allow for a more efficient organization of work by promoting pre-emergency services,” specified Minister Dubé, adding that the agreement in principle “will make it possible to improve both the working conditions of paramedics and front services for the population”.

The union was estimated to have the last bargaining right last week while its members have beenah April 2020.
