A “terrific” experience: the magnificent return of Canadian athletes from the Olympic Games

The end of the Olympic Games also means the return of Canadian athletes to their homeland. The excitement was palpable on Monday evening at Montreal-Trudeau Airport, where several families were impatiently awaiting the return of their favourite athletes.

The Canadian delegation won 27 medals, including 9 gold medals. In addition, of these 27 medals, 17 were won by women.

Canadian athlete Thomas Fafard spoke about his Olympic experiences upon arrival at Montreal-Trudeau Airport.

He will keep precious memories of his performance in Paris, but also of his participation in the big athletics final.

For Thomas, the competition at the Stade de France in front of thousands of people was a “terrific” experience, but also very “impressive,” he said.

Canadian water polo player Kelly Mckee is glad she had the support of her family during the Games there. “Having my family there was a highlight in itself,” she said upon her arrival in Montreal.

The one who experienced the Tokyo Olympics without the support of her family found her experience “more difficult”.

This time, her experience in Paris with her entire family was “great,” she said.
