A Stützle contract for Caufield?

We have a little idea of the salary demands of the Cole Caufield camp.

During an intervention on Radio TSN 690 a few days agoJournalist Darren Dreger pointed out that the Canadiens and Caufield are not close to an agreement, although there is nothing to worry about.

The two sides would continue to negotiate and the Caufield clan would be greedy – which is justified.

“I’m looking at Tim Stützle’s contract and that’s probably the kind of deal [l’agent] “Pat Brisson wants to pick for Caufield,” said Dreger.

Stützle signed an eight-year contract in September with an average annual value of $8.35 million. This pact will come into effect next season.

Prior to signing such a contract, Stützle had accumulated 29 points in 53 games in his first season and 58 points in 79 games in his second. In 2022-2023, the German proved the Senators right after signing his lucrative contract by amassing 90 points in 78 games.

Caufield can make similar arguments as Stützle and his clan did in the summer of 2022. The American hasn’t quite matured yet, but he gave us a glimpse of his potential with 36 points, including 26 goals, in just 46 games this season.

A salary equal to Stützle’s would make Caufield the Canadiens’ highest-paid forward, ahead of Nick Suzuki, whose annual average is $7.875 million.
