Jung from Vallée-Jonction
Jean Samuel Leclerc, a young man from Vallée-Jonction, placed second at the Canadian Taekwondo Championships held in Toronto this weekend.
Under the eyes of his parents, who were present to encourage him, he took revenge on his first participation in the same competition a few months earlier, where he had lost his first match.
At just 19, the athlete is a rising star in his favorite sport. In particular, he was in Paris in November for an international competition that trained him well for the Canadian championship.
” It helped me a lot for level preparation, for my tactics and my strategies. Since it was my second participation, I knew a little bit more about what to expect ‘ Jean-Samuel said in a phone interview with EnBeauce.com.
He spends time studying his mistakes to improve and keep getting better. He is also preparing for new struggles at national and international levels. “ Bigger competitions will follow in a few months. It’s happening faster than you think! »
Jean-Samuel started Taekwondo at the age of 6 and has never stopped since. He now has a 2nd Dan belt and competed in the 2017 Quebec Games. He has always trained at Club de Vallée-Jonction to join the elite team with champion Alain Bernier in Quebec. It should also be noted that he won a bronze medal at the Panam Open Series 2 in May 2022.
