The Laval Rocket must find a successor to their former head coach Jean-François Houle, but he has filled the spot left vacant by the departure of assistant Kelly Buchberger. In fact, he confirmed the return of Daniel Jacob on Wednesday.
The latter will once again take over the position of assistant coach, which he held from 2018 to 2021 at the Montreal Canadiens school club. After his first stay in Laval, he took on the same roles at the Syracuse Crunch and the Gulls of San Diego. The 43-year-old is a former assistant coach at the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL. He also worked on the coaching staff of the Canadian U17 team during the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Cup.

The last few weeks have been eventful for the Rocket, who were eliminated from the 2024 playoffs. After being given a three-year contract, Houle left his job last month to lead Clarkson University in the NCAA. Buchberger worked in Laval for three campaigns.
