A new cohort of interns make their debut at La Presse

Also this year again The press welcomes a new cohort of journalism and photojournalism interns whose signature you will recognize over the coming days and throughout the summer period.




These interns from different backgrounds are invited to report on various topical issues during the summer season and their articles and photos are published on the The press. The journalists Josée Lapointe and Marc-André Lemieux will support you as internship supervisors.

“The summer internship of The press is a long tradition and an impressive school of journalism. Dozens of our journalists made their first experiences there. We are delighted to welcome the members of the 2023 cohort, who will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the profession in a structured and inspiring setting, for their benefit and that of our readers,” explains Chief Information Officer Jean-François Bégin , himself a graduate of the internship program of The press.

The composition of the 2023 cohort:

Daniel Birru studied journalism at the University of Ottawa and at La Cité College. He has held various community journalism positions across Canada.

Mélissa Khadra holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Montreal. Head of the Department of Science, Health and Environment for The conversation CanadaShe works in the field of media and science communication. She also works with the magazine Quebec Science.

Patrick MacIntyre holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology and a certificate in civil law. He worked in immigration for a number of years before returning to study journalism at the University of Montreal, where he was a department head and director Leisure time.
