A new Canadian import arrives at the Bulldogs de Liège

In recent weeks, the Bulldogs de Liège have been working intensively behind the scenes. Since the beginning of July, no fewer than 17 contract extensions have been recorded for a single departure (that of Virgil Delbrassine). Logical when you’ve had a full season, when the ambitions are still there and the atmosphere seems to be in good shape.

On the other hand, there was still no fresh offspring in the Liège formation. With the official arrival of the Canadian importer Kurt Sonne, the time has now come. At the age of 27, he brings a very informative CV with him. “In the 2021–2022 season, he became the top scorer of the French D2 and second top scorer in his league, which allowed him to play in the French D1 in the 2022–2023 season. He trained in the NCAAIII from 2016-2020, where he was also the top scorer on his varsity team in his senior year.explains the red-blue association.

Hockey, Kurt has always had it in his skin as he is part of a family of hockey players. “One of his brothers, Brett, was drafted into the NHL from the St. Louis Blues team and played on the Canada junior team. His other brother, Brennan, was a professional player before becoming a WHL and Magnus League coach.

With his signature, the new Hell of Longdoz forward addressed his first words to the adoring fans of Sang et Marine: “I’m really excited to play in front of the amazing Liege fans and to be a Bulldogs player. I hope to have such a successful season this year and can’t wait to get started. ”

It may well be that Kurt Sonne is the only new signing for the Liège this summer, who will therefore have a similar face to last season in a Beneleague competition that will be a little different. The calendar will be announced in the coming days, while the Bulldogs will also compete in the Continental Cup.
