Canadian youngster Ivan Demidov played his second Puchkov Cup warm-up match for the U23 team today. Although his team lost 7-1 to Kunlun, Demidov provided us with a great solo sequence in an improvised overtime.
Behind the net, #11 can be seen effortlessly breaking free in the attacking zone with some nice feints and then thwarting the opposing goalie with a precise shot. We especially appreciate his ease in skating, which gives him a clear advantage over his opponents. He is difficult to cover when there is space around him.

He was also involved in his team’s only goal of regulation time, setting up the play from the blue line to bring the puck into the slot and make a precise pass to a teammate to his left – exactly the kind of Lane Hutson sequence he could give us later in the NHL.
Nevertheless, Demidov continues his preparation for the KHL season, which will begin at the beginning of September with SKA St. Petersburg. The injury he had does not seem to bother him too much anymore with these beautiful sequences.
