Striker Cédric Paquette seems to like Russia so much that he has applied for full citizenship of this country.

We learn this in a short text that the special agency TASS published on Monday. The 30-year-old athlete submitted his employment documents as part of this procedure, said Moscow Dynamo General Director Sergei Sushko.

Paquette played his first season in the Kontinental League with the Moscow team in 2023-2024, after playing for Minsk Dynamo the previous season. The Quebecer collected 22 goals and 13 assists for 35 points in 57 games for the Moscow club. Despite suffering a broken leg, as reported by the Hockey Worldwide Instagram account, he participated in eight playoff games and collected seven points.

The skater’s last presence in the North American professional ranks dates back to 2021-2022. He recorded a total of two assists in 24 games with the Montreal Canadiens and 10 points in 14 games with the Laval Rocket in the American League.
