A former Canadian will move to the KHL

Having played mainly at the American League level in recent years, he seems to be the center Byron Froesea free agent, decided it was time to try something different. Mikhail Zizlis of Sport-Express reports that the veteran is ready to sign a one-year deal with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL. News was reported by Pro Hockey Rumors on Saturday.

Froese, 33, played 141 total games in the NHL, mostly in the AHL. He played two seasons of 40 or more games in the NHL, 56 games in the 2015-16 season with the Maple Leafs and 48 games in the 2017-18 season with the Canadiens.

Since his professional debut in 2011, he has played for around fifteen teams (NHL and AHL), but has never really found a place in the big leagues. He is one of those players who excels in the American League but fails to find a role in the NHL.

The next step is therefore the KHL for the center player from Winkler, Manitoba.

After years of playing in the same role, supporting a few games here and there in the NHL, he will now head overseas and should be able to be a standout player throughout the season.

He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 4th round (119th overall) in 2009.
