A former Canadian saves the penguins

Evgeni Malkin and Dustin Tokarski worked together to help the Penguins close a three-goal deficit and give them a 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Malkin had two goals and two assists for four points in the game. See the highlights in the video above.

However, the game had started badly for the local favorites. In fact, Conor Garland, Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes all scored again in the first period, 2:19 minutes apart. Mike Sullivan then decided to retire Casey DeSmith, author of Two Saves, to replace him with Tokarski.

For his part, the former Montreal Canadiens color bear saved 18 of the 19 pucks aimed at him in his first game of the season, only to be thwarted by Travis Dermott. At the other end of the rink, Spencer Martin made 31 saves.

Sidney Crosby, Jason Zucker and Rickard Rakell also hit the mark in the win. Bryan Rust and Ty Smith had two assists.

Kutscherow is on fire

In Tampa, Nikita Kucherov scored two goals and added two assists in the Lightning’s 6-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Nicholas Paul, Vladislav Namestnikov, Brayden Point and Ross Colton also flashed the red light as the Lightning broke a two-game losing streak. For Point it was the ninth home game in a row with at least one goal.

Elvis Merzlikins was bombed with 46 gunshots in front of the Jackets cage.

His teammates Gavin Bayreuther, Tim Berni and Kirill Marchenko hit the mark. For Berni, playing the 17th game of his career, it was his first-ever point in the National Hockey League (NHL).
