Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard will land in Israel next week at the head of a delegation of 80 Canadian businessmen from the aviation, transportation, information technology and medical sectors.
According to the Israeli-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which organized the visit in coordination with the Canadian Embassy in Israel, this will be the largest business delegation ever to visit Israel.
Among the Canadian provinces, Quebec is one of the two most important export destinations (along with Ontario), after Israel and Quebec signed a trade cooperation agreement in 2008.
The aim of this week-long visit is to further develop commercial cooperation between the two countries. It includes visits and meetings with delegation members from Elbit Systems Ltd., Aviation and Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) and the Bombardier site in Haifa, where 300 diesel railcars are being electrified.
The delegation is hosted by President of the Israel-Canada Chamber of Commerce and President of the Israel Infrastructure Fund Adv. Yehuda Raveh and President of the Israel-Canada Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Bombardier Israel, Yossi Daskal.
Quebec’s economy is considered one of the most dynamic economies in the Western world in many areas. In addition to Bombardier, the province is also home to the headquarters of the aircraft engine manufacturers Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin, the telecommunications companies Ericsson, Motorola, Bell Canada and the software companies UbiSoft AutoDesk and EA Games.
