A CH hopeful is having a lot of fun at the World Cup

Watch out for Oliver Kapanen.

This under-heralded Montreal Canadiens prospect scored a hat trick on Sunday as Finland took on Great Britain in the Ice Hockey World Cup.

Kapanen scored his three goals in the kitchen: he deflected two shots and jumped on a return shot.

The young center player just had an excellent season in Finland. During the playoffs he was the best player in the Liiga, his coach Petri Karjalainen told TVA Sports. Karjalainen also believes Kapanen could compete for a spot in the Canadiens’ training camp next fall.

Kapanen recently signed a two-year deal with Timrå in the Swedish League but is expected to sign his entry-level contract with the Canadiens this offseason.

If he doesn’t play in Montreal next year, he risks a return to Europe.
