PAL Aerospace, an aerospace and defense company based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, announced yesterday that it is based its PAL Aerospace Dash 8 aircraft at the UK Home Office’s Small Boats Operation Command to support the country’s ongoing battle against illegal immigration and small boats to support English Channel crossings.
The aircraft will be used as part of the company’s Force Multiplier program, which is responsible for providing immediate access to specialty aircraft, sensors and crew members.
The Dash 8 aircraft is equipped with airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) technology that uses advanced imaging and radar systems to track illegal activity on the water.
The plane will also have British immigration officers on board to help identify small boat pilots and investigate the smugglers behind these operations.
“Through our Force Multiplier program, PAL Aerospace has the unique ability and ability to quickly deliver world-class solutions while operating at the intersection of talent, technology and reliability,” said Jake Trainor, Managing Director of the PAL Group of Companies. “PAL Aerospace is proud to support the UK Home Office in maintaining border security and tackling illegal migration with an exceptional team of ISR professionals acting as partners in this important national security measure. »
The aircraft will initially be deployed for a period of 18 months.
The UK asylum system is in a difficult situation: the number of migrants arriving on small boats has nearly doubled from 28,500 in 2021 to 45,700 in 2022.
The Force Multiplier program is also currently deployed for surveillance, search and rescue, and law enforcement operations in Canada, the Dutch Caribbean and the United Arab Emirates.
PAL Aerospace is a subsidiary of Exchange Income Corporation, a diversified and acquisition-focused Canadian company. The group includes numerous other aviation and technology companies, including PAL Airlines, CarteNav, Atlantic Avionics, Air Borealis and others.
