Daphnée Bélair-Teasdale of Laval was awarded a $2,000 scholarship through the Montreal Canadiens Scholarship Program.
Organized in partnership with the Aléo Foundation, this event enabled the awarding of $54,000 in scholarships to 27 elite hockey players and athletes who have excelled over the past year.
These were selected based on both their athletic and academic results. The continuation of the school career was also a selection criterion in order to promote the preparation for a post-sports career.
Bélair-Teasdale is a M18 AAA level attacker for the Amazones de Laval-Montréal. At 16, she is one of the athletes competing for the Quebec U18 team in the 2023–2024 season.
As for school, she is currently attending the fifth secondary school at the Antoine-de-Saint-Exupéry high school in Saint-Léonard. She has signed for the Cégep John Aboott Islanders at D1 collegiate level for next season.
After her career, Lavalloise would like to become an ice hockey teacher and coach.
“We hope that the support we offer to these athletes who shine among the elite of our sport will enable them to fulfill their ambitions and achieve their dreams,” added Geneviève Paquette, vice president of community engagement at Canadian Hockey Club. added. via press release. (NP)
