Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet addressed a gathering of his supporters on Sunday. A map of Quebec posted behind him did not show the Quebec-Labrador border. She gave the impression that Labrador belonged to Quebec.
Party members also passed a motion defending historic land claims specifically of Quebec, Labrador.
This isn’t the first time the Bloc Québécois has made such a gesture, the MP said Jordan Brown. It’s absolutely ridiculous these days
he said.
They don’t want to recognize the sovereignty of Newfoundland and Labrador, although they are supposed to be a sovereignist party that talks about respect for sovereignty. But they want to insult us like that.
The MEP believes that this geographical map can be dangerous as it spreads disinformation on a large scale.
He adds that the Bloc Québécois doesn’t seem to care about the residents of Labrador.
They don’t know our culture, heritage or history. they do not know about us
he said. But at the same time they want us to be an integral part of their sovereignty. It is ridiculous.
The Bloc Québécois has never proposed candidates in Labrador and has never paid an official visit there, the MP said Brown.
No response from the Bloc Québécois
Jordan Brown adds that he has tried to communicate with Bloc Québécois MP for Abitibi-Baie James-Nunavik-Eeyou, Quebec’s constituency bordering Labrador, but to no avail.
CBC also attempted to solicit responses from the Bloc Québécois, but again received no response.
Jordan Brown said that his message would have been easy if he had managed to establish that communication.
